Civica Scuola Interpreti e Traduttori
Ever since its inception, Civica Scuola Interpreti e Traduttori has championed new approaches to teaching and fostered communication between peoples. Its strong points include the personal and direct relationship between teachers and students indeed, all classes are taught in small groups; the teaching staff has been selected among the best professionals in the fields of translation, interpretating and communication; the curricula are tailored to help graduates quickly find their place in the job market, hence our on-going collaboration with prominent institutions, companies and organisations.
Thanks to the agreement with CNA, Confederazione Nazionale dell’Artigianato e delle Piccole e Medie Imprese di Milano (the Milan confederation of crafts businesses and SME’s) and with the Foundation “Centre for the development of Italy-Russia relations”, the students have the opportunity to approach the professional market directly and develop professional projects through real job projects and qualified internships. Many distinguished figures have graduated from Civica Scuola Interpreti e Traduttori, including the head of the Italian language unit at the European Parliament Giancarlo Zucchetto, and translation agency TransEdit Group founders Laura Gori and Adele Nardulli, only to quote a few.
Applied Linguistics and Cultural Studies
Thanks to an agreement with Université de Strasbourg, all students enrolled in the school’s MA courses are concurrently enrolled at Université de Strasbourg and, upon completion of their studies, are issued a French MA degree. The Department of Applied Linguistics has been awarded the Erasmus University Charter. Milano Lingue is involved in over thirty bilateral agreements concerning international student and teacher mobility.
Civica Scuola Interpreti e Traduttori is also an active member of the Tempus Ritsa (Reforming Interpretation and Translation Studies in Azerbaijan) project, as envisaged by the Bologna Process.
The School and the City
Among the range of activities open to the public is the cycle of seminars “I Seminari del Mercoledì” (the Wednesday seminars), involving lectures by renowned professionals on translation, writing, geopolitics, accessibility and orientation to the job market. The lectures are in Italian and in foreign languages; the latter are interpreted simultaneously by the students of the Master’s Degree in Conference Interpreting.
